I have access to a GMT...XLT and a MXT...
Now what would be your choice of the 3 detectors to take so you have a detector along on a quad ride in the desert, this ride could include mountains, desert and anything inbetween, we have seen rock foundations , creeks old camp site....
So what is the best choice and why to take on a trip like this.

First, take the one you best understand.

Failing that, from what you said I infer that you are after multi purpose detecting. If that is the case then take the MXT. It can go for gold, coins/jewelry, and relics. The other two are more specialized and would probably do better at one of the categories, but will not do all.

It can pretty much do everything you might need. A gold detector is not a coin detector and the XLT isn't good for gold. The MXT can do it all.
