IYO, of all the Tesoros ever produced---what ONE do you consider to be the VERY BEST, as to OVERALL performance (in various grounds) & reliability?-----I've got my opinion but wanted to see what others think.----We've all got one (opinion, that is)! ----------Del
What's this---38 views (so far) & nobody has one (opinion)???------Okeee, I'll give you mine---hint B2U---as in Bandito 2 umax & for 2 or 3 very good reasons (for me at least).----You don't have to state as to the "why", etc.----just name your preference.
My choice would be the Toltec ll, it is mostly for sentimental reasons as it is the first new Tesoro the wife and i bought. It is still a great detector even though it has been out of production for nearly 13 years. It has that ED-120 discrimination Tesoro is famous for, analog meter, two speeds of all-metal modes, a coarse ground balance that affects both motion discrimination and all-metal modes. Plus it just finds great targets in the nasty nail cluttered old house sites that most detectors would not signal on. And Del, as you said about the Bandido ll
Vaquero because of how versatile it is (coin shooter and relics), how smooth it is and how deep it is. I've had quite few detectors over the last 20+ years, but the Vaquero is, for me at least, best detector ever.
I have only used the Golden, the silver umax, the cibola, the compadre, & the outlaw i would pick the outlaw , it has a very smooth threshold AM that tells me lots of info about the target, in ground such as how big it is , how deep it is the beep mode tells less, you could be over a big deep Iron and not know it was big or deep it just beeps, thats why i like the threshold , yes i can hunt in no motion but it can't tell me as much as the threshold so as for now i like the outlaw ,
By far the Silver Sabre II Plus! I've had several in the past and always regret selling them. Depth is not their forte...but they are certainly some of the best coin-shooters I know of. Certainly a forerunner of the "lightweight" units at less than 3 lbs. Love their discrimination and modulated audio. A good silent searcher.
Rusty mentioned to me if he could only have one detector, it would be the Lobo SuperTraq. I have had mine since 2000, and would enjoy a depth shoot out with a Tejon. I was always amazed how deep I could dig up old horse shoes and miner relics in the AZ desert. I never found any nuggets, but always had a interesting and enjoyable hunting experience. With the right coil, the LST makes a good do it all detector.
For a machine to qualify as an "all around detector" in my opinion it would have to have some kind of adjustable ground balance.
I have tried a few Tesoros during my short time of detecting and prefer the adjustable ground balance myself although the ones I tried with fixed ground balance did do very good in some sites.
I currently have a Vaquero and an Eldorado and these two fit the bill for what I am looking for .
I love the battery check feature on the Eldorado... wish the Vaquero had this feature also without having to turn the machine on and off to check the battery charge.
Some folks say that get fooled by deep iron, but I have found some nice iron relics with mine while hunting in disc. mode, so I don't mind that.
These two would be my pick for the best machine.. ( can't chose one over the other ).
I have many Tesoros. I think my first one to grab is my COMPADRE, Second would be the Silver uMax... 3rd would be the Vaquero,, 4th would be the Tiger Shark for the water... KEN
I have used the Vaquero, Silver Sabre uMax, Golden uMax Compadre 5.75 , Compadre 8" and the Deleon. Of all of those I will have to say my favorite by far is......the Deleon. It just does everything the others will do but faster and easier. Also, besides the Vaquero it is the deepest of the Tesoro's I have used. I like the Vaquero second.
I owned a Compadre and it worked so well that I decided to get a Vaquero. I loved the Compadre and thought it was much better overall (price considered, of course) than the Vaquero. If the Comp had an adjustable GB and sensitivity, I would definitely buy one in a hot second!
