That depends on the mode settings you use. The TID numbers do change (sometimes a lot) between Ground-coin and FE-coin. I have never checked the responses for beach settings.

As Jason says the modes do affect the CO numbers some but I have found that they affect the Fe numbers more.
Now I will most likely get scolded for what I am about to say but I see the slight difference between the 1/2 dollar and quarter along the same lines as the difference in a penny and a dime which are hard to tell apart most of the time. The Minelabs boast and rightfully so a higher degree of TID stability than most other make machines. But a lot of that comes from having only 50 segments of discrimination instead of 99 that is used by most companies.
I think that if the Minelabs had 99 seg. you would see the spread in the TID numbers and pennies would be easier to separate from dimes but also see less TID stability.
If I am wrong I am sure there will be someone along to correct me. As info. I own and use a CTX if that lets me off the hook a little.
