I`m less optimistic after reading this article. It dosn`t sound like they are happy with the product line and want Fisher for "the ability to provide industrial products".

Since it seems Fisher has not been profitable for quite a while, I don't see First Texas purchasing them, unless they see a way to turn the company around. If they were not profitable, First Texas would not be buying them just to eliminate some competition...Also, since Dave Johnson designed so many legendary detectors, I can't help but wonder if he's got some plans for Fisher's line-up (which means gooood stuff for us) :)

There's a gigantic market for "industrial" type metal detection these days.. (just think homeland security). If you look at Walsh's quote:

"Walsh said the purchase of Fisher gives First Texas the ability to provide industrial products."

I can't help but think that Industrial products were one of the reasons, but surely not all, for the purchase.

I agree with a post a while back from NASA-Tom (where he mentioned this move) that this could mean exciting things for Fisher... I just can't see them killing off a venerable and prestigious name like that.

Unfortunately when an outfit changes hands do expect changes. Lets hope they are all good ones or at least overshadow a bad one or two...
Speculation or rumors is the best we can hope for but time will tell..

Who votes for a new Fisher home website? I DO ! I DO!!!!!!! And who votes for a new Fisher metal detector series? I DO!!!! I DO!!!!

what Mark posted ??

It doesn't mention anything about legal issues or warranty's. In fact all lifetime warranty's are still & will be in affect.

First Texas is carrying over any warranty's that Fisher had set up, this includes any new units held by distributors & dealers in stock.

One thing to remember-California is VERY unfriendly toward business. They are leaving that state in leaps & bounds as they cannot afford to pay for all the social programs being imposed on them by the state.

could someone send me the article about the status of the fisher (m scope)company. I haven't seen it. Thanks I have a cz20 and an id excel.
