Wanted to set the SENSITIVITY out of AUTO to between 16 - 18 to see if I could gain a fraction more depth, it chirped like a cage full of canaries, reduced the SENSITIVITY to 13 before all went quiet.
Each time I reset the SENSITIVITY I did a NOISE CANCEL at the same time holding the coil ( 15 inch WOT Coiltek ) steady on the sand.
The interesting thing is that after watching the DVD from Minelab about the X-TERRA and seeing the coil pumped up & down an inch or so above the ground during the NOISE CANCEL demo I tried it on the Quattro but rather than moving the coil up & down I just held it steady about 1/2 inch off the sand & rocks and to my surprise I was able to set the SENSITIVITY at 17 and it ran smooth and quiet with good depth.
Don't know if I am just fooling myself or if it really is a neat trick.
I think the reason for the excessive FALSING on the beach is the amount of rotting seaweed under the sand and this is amplified when using the larger coil
