I live in Temecula, California and my horse ranch sits right on the edge of what use to be a grove of trees next to a river. So far I have found old square nails, black powder shotgun shells, a handmade horseshoe and other misc stuff. I also have found a .30 Long Rimfire, a .32 Short Rimfire and a .44 Henry Rimfire just around the house. From dating most of this I have concluded the most of it is from around 1880-1920. Yesterday was a great day as I found a .36 pistol ball and a .44 pistol ball! That is going back to at least 1848!
Now where are the coins? The oldest coin I have found is a 1944 penny. Most of the coins are from the late 1960's to 1980's. No silver yet. I have searched the grounds over and over. I use a BH Prospector (Tracker IV) with the 10" coil. I think the coins are deeper than then what my machine can go. I have tried all metal mode and it is too hard as the ground is littered with all sorts of metal. Anyone have any suggestions? It might be time to move up to a T2 or F75.
