I found this item today way back in the woods in central va.
I think it is a key tag from a hotel in New York called the Plaza Hotel. I don't have a clue how it got down here, but think it is a neat find. Anyone have any other ideas what it could be. I'm just guessing.
I also found the IH penny a short ways from where I found the tag near an old homesite and thought I'd add it to this post.
It is dated 1907 and is my oldest coin so far.
I was very happy to make this find.

There is quite a lot of stuff on the web about the Plaza Hotel. The 1890 building was replaced in 1907 and The Rest Of The Story is pretty interesting too. These two sites will get you started:
