Interesting escutcheon plate, possibly civil war era.........

Friend, and co-worker Craig, who's thing is arrowheads, was walking along the riverfront here in Evansville when he spotted this......

Notice the federal eagle stamped on the keyhole cover, small letters "philadelphia" on one side, and a word starting with glis??? on the other

Pic of backside......any ideas? off of a boa6t, maybe a strong box?.....

as soon as I saw it, I recognized it as being similar to his. He has it on his website...I was going to steal the pic, figured he wouldn't mind.

Very similar...his eagle faces opposite direction though

trunk than a strong box.This type of lock are ez to brake into by puting a screwdriver in the key hole and hitting it with a hammer.Most strong boxes use a pad lock you put on.Nice plate.
