Interested in a Whites MXT PRO

So I was interested in a DFX, but decided that the MXT Pro has some abilities that I really like...on top of awesome battery life. The only reason I wanted the DFX was for the 3khz feature because I'm interested in finding silver, but I'm sure the power of the MXT Pro can take care of that. Just looking for some opinions on the Pro

It is one of the best all around detectors in my opinion. Very versatile. Easy to use. Get the 6X10 coil if you can.

View attachment 73114View attachment 73115View attachment 73115 Used MXT some scraches on the coil. Some paint rubbed off right blow handel. someone glued a new screen on and smeared a little glue around the edge of screen. Control box and everything else looks fine. Machine actually is in good shape and I tried it out and works great. I am thinking it is like 5 years old. As is Free shipping Was $450.00 now $400.00
Paypal as a friend or money order
Ships and sells CONT USA only

This is listed on treasurequest if you are interested. There are pics as well. I would personally save a little more and wait for a little better machine to come along. Sometimes dealers get some nearly new trades in and sell them very reasonably. Just my 2 cents.

I guess I missed that you were looking for a pro. That is a better choice. Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the responses. I'm looking to trade my tesoro vaquero with stock and 5.75 coil plus some cash for one, so if you see anyone who is lookin to do a trade, please let me know

I am brand new to the MXT and already want a PRO too! and have been for 13 years a dedicated Tesoro user. not anymore---Tesoro is a great machine dont get me wrong and the Vaq is super-- met a young fellow with one last night. digital and simplicity of the MXT series has spoiled me. would not go back at all.... my cent and a half.... welcome to the new world! i am loving it!

lets hope i can get into it..the only way I can is if i can do a trade plus cash. I'ma poor college student at the moment, lol

Good luck with the trade Bobby s.

How's the MXT Pro do on silver coins in the 6-8" ranch

It will do very well with the stock coil or 6X10 DD at that depth but doing a search will yield loads of results to check.

[size=large]my second silver coin was a Ben Franklin Half found with my new MXT PRO at a depth of 8". and it wasn"t straining at that depth. i was using the D2 coil. liked it very much. sorry i ever sold mine. so i hug my xlt a little tighter.

The MXT PRO that widebody sold to me will easy find a pulltab even a rolled up beaver tail at 12" deep with the 10" DD (D2)
When you get the PRO you will be digging targets left and right And that is at the preset triangles..
I just got a 6x10 DD looking forward trying out this coil..

Hopefully i will be able to get one...i gotta try to trade the detector i have now plus cash for one, but nobody wants to do that, which is understandable

I have owned the MXT Pro for a few years and overall have found some great finds and, to me, a lot of silver. But most of the silver wasn't found until I switched to the D2 coil and I was detecting in well hunted areas. Its a great detector but unless you use a specialized coil it may not find much more than the detectorists found in the 70's, 80's and 90's. If you happen to have virgin ground, the coil is not a big concern but virgin ground is very rare these days. The good areas were high priority in the silver rush days of the early 80's. To find silver in those areas you need something they didn't have. If there is a lot of iron or trash in the ground they missed some good targets. But if you are to find those targets you have to have the right coil. It doesn't matter how good the detector is if you have the wrong coil on it for the conditions you will miss the same targets they missed. I have more faith in coil selection and very slow methodical detecting than the actual detector. Don't get me wrong, I own the MXT Pro for a reason. Its just that a lot of people own a great detector but use only one coil that really has the same characteristics as the coils used 30+ years ago.

Thanks for this response...it really comes down to the MXT pro or the DFX for me

i agree with starvin--i just have the MXT and it is so easy to learn. my great friend has the dfx now thats complicated! for me anyway. my next big unit will be an mxtpro for the tones and backlight, but the mxt will always stay with me. i am sold on Whites after using brand X and doing great for 12 yrs. i see i could have done better though....

The DFX is a little better for me for finding jewelry. as they have 2 freq. The MXT pro has one 15 hz but has knobs which is a winner in my book. The DFX to me has too much stuff on it to get sorted out. However the DFX seemed to me to be able to seek out coins and jewelry in trashy areas, but it;s a 100$ higher. shortribs

i really dont think any is a bad choice. not at all. it may depend on skill level and learning curve- my dumb butt uses the "KISS" method--keep it simple stupid! its best for me--- all i ever used was beep and dig except for one low entry level digital wish i had kept. the MXT line was the obvious choice and the MXT from a great guy was affordable used. i have abandoned brand X! nothing wrong with them at all--not really outperformed as much as out classed. they were deep- good-- but single tone and no Id where i got iron grunt at least and a Numerical and modes to boot--yea MXT PRO will be next-- after i learn this machine-- which i think i am learning quickly.

Glabelle-- my soil on a fall line in Mid Georgia is where the ancient oceans met the sea they say- red clay and rocks meets sandy loam and white clay. and believe me its a world of difference, even in the quality shape of relics dug. the MXT handles both soils well. very well .
