Instead of negative junk on the Fisher/First Texas deal, why don't we look at the positives?...

In my humble opinion, I see very few ways to lose from this deal. IF Fisher were a "bad" or "futureless" company, why would Cohu or First Texas have purchased them?.. First Texas has made it known they are dead serious about being in the "high-end and professional" market. My thoughts are, of all the companies they could have bought, they picked the one with the best "pedigree" and reputation for quality.

A lot of folks seem worried that they will cheapen or lower the quality of the Fisher units, but why would they want to do that? They bought Fisher BECAUSE of those very qualities... why get rid of it? They also know that us metal detector folk can be, well, very opinionated :) If they were to make changes for the worse for the company we love, we'd be storming First Texas corporate with torches and pitchforks (not really, but a great visual) :)

Like Mr. Bill said, First Texas has the greenbacks to do with as they please... Just imagine if they pour some of that into R & D for Fisher... Could get very, very interesting :)

Anyway, I feel better now... my opinion is just that....my opinion...mileage may vary for other folks...

I should probably go into hiding as folks are taking their frustrations out on me, or I end up dragged into all the arguements. But, like I just told someone by e-mail. Would you rather FRL have shut the doors completely and POOF there goes all our warrantys & servicing?? Cohu had nothing to do with metal detectors....First Texas does & wishes to get away from their cheapo image & get serious. Hiring Dave Johnson & bringing back a Technetics "pro" line should prove it. I think the future for Technetics/Fisher could prove very interesting, & in the meantime I'm gonna enjoy detecting with my ID-Edge/ C$, etc. & stay positive. I just hope Los Banos stays open.....
