Installing coil cover on my Silver

Bought a coil cover for the Silver, and attempted to put it on yesterday. Made me feel like a fool. It didn't want to go up on the coil without a fight, and it won. I didn't want to go prying on it with a sharp object. Any hints, other than throwing the cover away????

Very strange, I have a coil cover for my Silver uMax & it goes on and off with ease. I have the 8" round brown coil. Steve.
P.S. If you have the 9X8 coil I know what you mean, I had a Cibola with the 9X8 coil & it was b@@!%$h to get the cover off, it actually broke trying to get it off. Seems as though they are super glued on. I tried prying here, prying there, hot water, etc. nothing worked. I think it is because there are so many area's where the cover has to fit in.

Thanks for the replies. It seems that my round coil has a few factory "burrs" in the inner circle "bullseye", that interfere with the cover going all the way on. As inexpensive as the Silver was(but I love it), I'll probably keep hunting without one, and if it ever goes to crap, I'll just buy another machine.

take your machine outside and use the garden hose. Put a spray nozzel on it and spray the coil cover with high pressure water. That really helps to loosen a tight fitting cover and minimizes the chance of breaking it.

Thanks, but my problem is getting the cover on, instead of getting it off. It is not a precision fit, and there are several factory "burrs" that are in the way. It is the standard round coil. Thanks.....

Fantastic post and it works.

I have changed my mind. Not gonna use one anyway. My dealer convinced me to buy one for my machine, and that' why I have one. Might make a good frisbee for the dog.

I relic hunt and without a coil cover I'll do a number on the coil itself. Besides, these machines are so light to begin with, the coil cover is not adding any appreciable weight.

Just run it under hot water and while still very warm work it on......But remember if you do use it, take it off and clean from between cover and coil..It will cause falsing if it gets dirty. About every 8 to 10 hunts will keep it clean.Unless you hunt in sand..Clean it when done hunting after every sandy hunt.
