Inside look at the At Pro control box

Has anybody pulled the faceplate off your At Pro and took a look inside the control box. I understand there is a rubber ring seal around the faceplate
that seals the unit from water. Wondering if this seal ever needs to be replaced. Just curious, send pictures if you have them.

The only time you would need to replace the seal, if if you took it apart.
Best left alone....You would also then need a new faceplate, cause the original would get wrecked when you remove it.
If the unit ever needs repair Garrett would do all of that.

Rumor is that the first At Pro's that came out the face-plate could be easily removed but Garrett made a modification to the control box and now a special tool has to be used to open the control box.
Maybe somebody from Garrett could comment on this.

This video shows somebody taking apart the AT pro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSNyM292qj4

I would not do this unless there was no warranty left and it was absolutely necessary for some reason. That seal is best left alone and in place , since disturbing it could conceivably affect its watertight ability. Some of us , ....I suspect many of us , are starting to notice the plastic case protruding out away from the seal as is shown in this picture , which is not mine but mine is doing the same thing. This " looks " to be the pressure from the seal pushing the case outward eventually , and my concern is that this could possibly compromise the seals ability to work as it should. Since mine is no longer covered by the warranty , I am not sure Garrett would be concerned about it. So the only fix I can see for peace of mind is to put a bead of silicone around the seam to ensure no water has a chance to get in there. That's why I looked up how to take one apart , so I could see just whats going on in there and get an idea if it is an issue or not. I wont take it apart , but from the detail I can see on this video , the expansion of the case almost HAS to be a problem that may eventually cause it to leak , since it was not like that until somewhat recently. I may call Garrett and inquire about it eventually , but I think I would feel strange since the warranty has recently expired.

Anyway ,....here is the picture.....

Thank you ohiochris, this is just what I was looking for. I have this mental problem of having to tear things apart to see how they work. You just saved me from
another disaster.
