Innovative Idea

While out THing today, I realized I can not hear my cell phone with mt earphone on. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to batch your cell phone into your detector earphones? If there is someone out there who knows how to do such a thing; I am all ears (no pun intended).

I have no idea how you would do it but this is my way of solving the problem. When I'm out detecting or catfishing their isnt a cell phone to bother or disturb me.

Whenever my cell rings while detecting it means the wife wants me to come home. If yo ask me cell phones are just electronic leashes.
I have a lot more to add to this subject but the wife is calling me out to the yard right now. See ya!

A few weeks ago, while walking in the park I was able to save a mans life simply because I had a cell phone and was able to call 911. I also take a cell phone with me while MDing because I hunt alone and if I fell, had a heart attack, bitten by a snake or some other mishap, I can call for help. I realize a cell phone is a pain, however since we have the technology why not use it and be safe?

I'm glad I can't hear the blasted thing!!! That's why I metal detect, to get away from all that and concentrate on something that is fun and just for me at that moment. I leave the wretched thing in the car, there's nothing that important that can't wait for an hour. Just think back 15 years, we didn't have 'em and the world turned quite smoothly without them!! JMHO, happy hunting!!

Well, I usually take my cell phone along, and always if I am out of the city detecting. But......once the GARRETT is turned on, the cell gets turned off :( I sometimes check my mailbox after, but usually take the cell along in case I get in trouble some how.

But, I guess getting one with a vibrate mode is the way to go if you insist on keeping it turned on.

Good idea and it sure got a lot of comments... :)

I'm self employed. A call can mean a hundred dollars, or a thousand. Some weeks I ignore it, as I have more work than I can do. Other weeks I NEED IT!!! If it rings its FOOD ON THE TABLE!!! Lots of my customers will hang up if I dont answer, and then its loss work and lost customers.
Otherwise I agree completely. If I wasnt a self employed plumber I wouldnt take it either! JMHO

That's a different scenario. It's your job and your paycheck on the line. If you're on call you have to have a phone.

I have one, but there are only a handful of people with the number. Technology is wonderful and it is great to be able to get help or such when you need it, but just to talk on the blasted thing just to be talking, or to have the "one who must be listened to" call to ask a question she already knows the answer to, which is her answer anyways, no thanks!! Our "instant gratification" society is getting way out of hand!!

I work Forestry, when its dry Im on call, so I put my phone in my shirt pocket, or most time overalls an put on Viberate.

I went all the way through this chain waiting for someone to bring up an issue discussed on some other forum a while back ... I have no idea which one at the moment, and it may not be of concern to Garrett people. The discussants batted the subject around, did some experimenting, and concluded that having a cell phone turned on definitely affected the operation of [their] detectors. Might be worth checking out and at least is a good story for the Ball & Chain.
