Initial Mode

Give me your feedback on what would be the most effective "mode" to begin to learn the CTX? Any other suggestions you might have on shortening the learning curve would be great. I am quite new on this machine, got it for Christmas. Thanks for your input! River

Sticking with the preset programs is probably what most will tell you. If your hunting for coins use the preset coin program and dig the repeatable tones. Any signal on the 12 line give or take one or two. Be sure to noise cancel at each location you move to or if you move closer to power lines or other types of interference

Soon you will learn the numbers for the targets. If you want to get an idea of the numbers they are posted in the CTX resource center located on the banner at the start of this page

Jtram.... Thanks for the feedback. That is quite helpful.

Peace to you,

River

I have to back up jtram with the good advice River. I started out with the Coins program and had a blast the first time out, it was plenty deep right out of the box and easy to use. You will learn to make changes to customize it more to your personal likes as you use it.

Coins mode auto sensitivity. Whatever mode you decide on stick with it till you learn it. Swapping around programs till you understand the machine will just delay learning curve.

Thanks Larry and Bart for your expertise! :) I will get my first day in hunting tomorrow in Peoria with 57 degree weather.... Let the learning begin!

Riversjourney, best of luck in your first hunt with your new CTX. I am about to make the plunge for a CTX myself and an interested in hearing about your initial experiences.

I personally feel that combined mode is easier to learn and hits just as good on targets.

Purchased the CTX just before Christmas and when the snow melts and the ground thaws I look forward to getting dirty. My first attempt in near zero temps was a little rough to dig in. I'm brand spanking new to detecting and excited to learn.
