Initial AT PRO vs GTI 2500 depth test, in air.

Well to my surprise I can't get the GTI 2500 to beat the AT Pro with any item including gold nuggets in air depth test, even in the GTI's all metal mode.

WOW is all I can say...

Video in the works...and to boot, a target recovery speed test on iron, between the two.

I'm guessing...right now, but I'm thinking the GTI 2500 will need the 12.5" coil on it to match the AT PRO's depth....will try that tommorrow.

Stay tuned...

Alan

P.S. Reguarding John Edmontons test results...his GTI 2500 was set on 100% sensitivity (12), mine was set on factory setting of 9 (75%) due to EMI, I couldnt go higher with it.

I've read a lot about the AT Pro like most of us. I own a 1500 and 2500 . The 12 inch coil does goes general a little deeper than the 1500 with the 9 inch coil but not buy much. If I buy a AT Pro I will be giving up the imaging that I like on GTI series but willing to do that for the depth. With that in mind I decided to buy the the DD coil that fit on the 1500 ,2500 series.[Garrett GTI DD Proformance coil]. Looks just the head on the AT PRO. With the DD coil on the 2500 I lost the imaging but gain a lot more depth. More than the 2500 with the 12 inch coil. Not only that I put a rusty nail on top of a quarter and was able to pick up the signal from the quarter from many different angles. With bi level on I was able to hear the rusty nail from one angle but most of the time from other angles I hit the coin tone. In summary the 2500 goes a lot deeper has good separation and still tells me how deep it is and has all metal. Its not a AT Pro but I'm getting a lot deeper than I did before. Of course this is a air test and the ground is covered with snow, looking forward to the spring or any green ground.

Thats good news on the new DD coil for the 2500. I'll be getting one myself. Maybe its the coil thats different.

I hope your using the all metal that ID's on the GTI-2500....deep as anything on the planet..Got a measured 13 inch barber dime with proper ID...now thats depth with the stock coil...

Yes Dan I used both modes and still was supprised about the AT PRO's depth beating the all metal mode. Currently I've never used a VLF machine that is deeper than the 2500 in all metal. More test to come and see the results...

Thats great depth on a dime....must have had a thick halo around it....I cant even do that in air test.

I agree about the imaging addiction but its only good to about 6 to 7 inches and then your on your own. I dig all coin bings even if happens once on a target. Yes I've tried it in all metal mode with the DD coil and the depth is there. I'm not putting the 2500 stock coil down I'm kind of experimenting. Its winter and what is a man to do. Remember if you buy a AT pro you loose imaging anyway. Yes bearkat4160 its definitely the coil that's' making the difference and the versatility of the 2500. My plans are in the spring is to find targets with 2500 with the DD coil and the see what the 1500 is telling me. My son is buying a AT Pro in the spring and will throw that in the mix to. The other thing is man the 2500 is much lighter, doesn't feel like there's a brick hanging on the end

Oh Yeh good batts Larry. I now have the footage to show the results. They will be one Youtube soon. The AT averaged 2" more depth on every target than the 2500...to my surprise!

As soon as my crappy internet provider gets my service working again I'll get it online. Using my cell now for service.

I just think the AT Pro is that good. I always thought my 2500 goes deep ...and it does, I was always suprised at the depth of the all metal mode, until the AT PRO....No big deal...I LIKE IT!
