I can,t find anyone on the forum using thr 50. Had whites xlt for 14yrs, and went to the x-terra 50. Is this machine worth the money i paid for it.. no one seems to be using it. Not a novice, been detecting 46 yrs. Thanks jtgold

We do have some 50 users on here. It is a very good machine and will do the trick for sure. Welcome to the site by the way, Beale.

For information look in the FAQFAQ towards the top of the page, a whole section of information on the X50. There are people using them for sure on the forum.

X-50 I dug deeper targets than with my Xterra 70....8-9 inch Indians..I have never dug a 9" or even an 8 " indian with an X-70..
I also noticed when digging the 6" indians they jumped around all over the scale on the 70........but they locked on 32-34 on the X-50

I have an x-terra 50 and love it. I just found a silver ring with it about a month ago. I just learned that I was turning the sensitivity up to high were I am hunting. And i am getting ready to purchase a 6inch coil. I just bought mine used in august and have already filled a quart zip lock bag full of things . I still have alot to learn , I learn something about it every time I go. And have learned alot from faq faq on this forum. Now I want the new x-terra 505 , maybe in 3 or 4 years I will buy one when there are lots of used ones for sale.:usaflag:

Welcome to the forum.
I don't own the 50, but I would be very happy to. I've been using the 30 sinse they have been out and only bought a 70 3 weeks back. I bought that so I can go nugget hunting. Otherwise I'd own the 50 in a heat beat. To me, they have the pefect amount of notching for coin hunting. Narrow enough to disern junk, but stable enough to have coins lock into each notch. At least that is my impression of them. I'll be buying one eventually and finding out, but for now, I'm going to get familiar with the 70.
Unfortunately the 70's seem to overshadow the 30 and 50 on the forum, which is a bit of a shame, because I know how effective and fun the 30 is and can only assume that the 50 would be the same.

I'll put my hand up as a X-terra 50 owner user, my biggest problem is so much ground so little (free time) :clapping:

Have made some good finds and am very pleased with it

Elton, are you sure those deep old IH cents locked on a 32 - 34 on your X-50? I think you must have been using the X-70 because 32 and 34 don't appear on an X-50? :yikes:

As to the depth comparsion..... I have done some pretty extensive "head to head" comparisons of all three models. And in my moderate soil conditions, I don't see much (if any) difference when using comparable coils. Now, if I were to hunt in soil that required a GB different than the factory preset GB of the X-30, then I could see where the 50 and 70 would have an advantage. I also think that the 3 kHz concentric coil gives me more depth than the 7.5 or the 18.75. That, combined with Threshold tone, and multiple tone audio, I found myself using the X-70 far more than the other two models. But that may change with the introduction of these three new versions..................Since the new 505 is able to use all three coil frequencies, has Threshold, multiple tone audio capabilities and three digit notches (more stable readings), I can see where it might just become the most popular X-Terra for coinshooters. If I hadn't been "interested" in the concept of an updated pinpoint mode and Tracking GB offset, I'd have probably bought a new 505 instead of my new 705. Having spent the better part of the last two days out hunting with the 705, all I can say is it hunts just like my X-70! :detecting:

The extra segments in the "wrap around" range should help as well.

I agree, it may be destined to become the most popular model in the lineup.

they are a very good detector. I would not be afraid to hunt behind an X70 user with one.
