information on White's Classic SL & Blue Max 800 coil

A member of our church gave our pastor a white's metal detector classic sl with the blue max 80 coil and I need to find some information for him to use. She did not have the manual or anything, just the metal detector and the coil. I use another brand of metal detector and I'm trying to help him get started metal detecting and any information sure would be a blessing. Thanks in advance and HH.

It did not come with head phones and he's looking for advice on a good set of head phones, also.

[size=large]found manuals for a classic 1 & 2 SL on the whites web site. click manuals and search the list. find your machine and i believe you can download the manual free.

The Classic SL is a basic turn on and go detector, set the discriminator dial and sensitivity dial at the pre-set marks on the dials and swing it low and slow, pinpoint and dig.

After he has more time with it, then he can lower the disc. and amp up the sensitivity some for the conditions of the hunt area, a set of Killer B's headphone will do the trick, good sound and light weight. Keeping it simple is the way to go, and detecting where the digging is easy, sand tot lots, around swing areas, swimming beaches and the like would be an excellent way to learn the Classic. Remember, you have to learn to walk before you can run. Just my opinion.

Thanks, I will get the information from him at church tonight and print the proper manual from White's. Then, the headphones.

My pastor found a 1866 nickel the other day and he's happy as can be. I don't know if it's a shield nickel or 3 cent nickel, but will find out Wednesday night. HH It might be one of what I call the ray's nickel, probably not the right name from the red book.

Now that you have had this detector for awhile how do you like it? I am thinking about getting the same one. Can it do underwater detecting? Thanks, Tom Majors Jacksonville, Florida
