Talking with a co-worker yesterday I mentioned my hobby of metal detecting when his eyes lit up.
"I've always wanted to try that at my place" was the first thing he said.
When asked why he replied that his property has been in his family for generations and has never been hunted. An added bonus is that it was the site of not only a stagecoach stop but also a one room school house.
Did a bit of research last nite and found the school house was built in 1878 and burned down in l911, I have been unable to find much of anything about the stagecoach stop but a trip to our local library should fix that..
Now if only the flood waters here in western Washington state would cooperate.
I asked if I could come and swing a coil on occasion and received a resounding "You bet!!"
It was very difficult to keep my mind on work for the rest of the day after getting permission to hunt a virgin piece of historical dirt.

Yeah my girlfriend happened to mention the other day that there was an old stagecoach depot on her mom's property. I had found some research on it and found it was part of the Butterfield stagecoach depots. I'm planning on going out there soon but I've been told it's only accessible by horseback. They have horses out there but I'd rather not have to worry about riding a horse out there, metal detect all day, and then have to worry about the horses while out there. Maybe a four wheeler will do the trick. There's some old graves out there also and learned that when people were travelling from depot to depot some would die during the trips and would be buried at the next depot they came to. I'm very anxious to get out there and see what I can find.

any Virgin Piece is worth going after...LOL....I can feel the antisapation growing......just make sure you share the finds with us!....can't wait to see the pics......Good luck.
