sorry nobody else happend to answer this yet so I will try. I'm not sure how great an answer this is, but at one time the 1270 was my primary unit, & I did find plenty of coins with it. But, it's considered more of a "relic" detector only because it does not have an ID meter. It will do fine coinhunting, but you may just have to play with the discrimination dial some to get it so your not digging so much trash. Another plus is that is will take all the different sized Fisher X-series coils, so you'd have a wide range of sizes to choose too....
