Found this today in a field where I have found CW artifacts and an 1840 W H Harrison token. Don't know what it is. Any help?? The half is for scale.

MIght be a pipe tamper... assuming that the bottom end is smooth and flat, with no sign that anything was ever inserted or attached.
 
DIDN'T SOME EUROPEAN helmets have something like that on top (1700-1920 prussian perhaps) Just a wild thought.
