A couple months ago I saw a post directing one too the readings for coins etc on the Xterra 70 meter . Would who ever posted that please consider doing it again..Appreciate your help and thank you.

Elton, We've copied links to many of the more "popular" posts up above in the FAQFAQ. If you don't find what you want up there, let me know. HH Randy

I'll tell you one thing Elton, Deep old coins don't come in as a solid number. The digital will jump around and what I look for is (does it jump around with 30 to 40 as an average) It may just flicker on these #s and there won't be much of an audio. But there will be enough to get your attention. Pull a plug and the audio and digital will become much clear. Most times its a good target.

Thanks NHBob and Digger..I didn't see the post at top.Thats exactly what I needed. I am trying another one of these X-70's..My nephew made a trade for me with a local man here in Ohio. This machine seems so much more stable than the prior X-terra 70 I had. It's not as touchy, and seems to be more on the mark for readings on the meter. It rained good here today, so I will try it out this evening at a local park.

I tried detecting at a small local 1920's era park..I tried your suggestion
of watching the meter...You were correct..When it changed between 30 36-40 and sometimes 38 I dug the signals. It was 1930's wheat pennies with a scratchy sound and a lock on of 36 after pinpoint..But it still jumped around even after getting it centered but did go back to a scratchy repeatable 36 which made me decide to dig. I would not have dug these signals had you not posted your experience. In fact I was surprised that the targets turned out to be keepers. I would have gone on thinking it was junk under the coil, or a combination of items under the coil except for you advice. So thank you kind Sir. I now have a new tool for finding good old coins.Just a note..There was no other targets in the hole that I could find..just the old green colored wheat cents that sounded off very scratchy and jumped the meter around constantly.
I should have checked to see if the coins were on edge or flat, but the truth is I did not think of it.It was dry hard ground and I was just glad to get the digger down deep enough to find the targets.

Yes Sir..It proved to be a fact...TID is not always what it seems.
Please keep advising we detectorists that have a lot to learn. It is appreciated by me very much, and I would bet others learn as well.
