Info on probes

Would like some help on purchasing a probe. I'm new to detecting and sometimes I'm having trouble finding what I'm digging for even after a good pin point signal.
Would like some help on purchasing a probe. This question probably has been asked before.

I got my first one recently. It is a vibraprobe 560. I do like the way it works and it has saved time and frustration. It is waterproof ,uses a 9 volt batt. and uses vibration as it gets near a target. I ask the guys on here and the other Garrett forum and the response was pos. on this probe. It pinpoints off the tip. Think you would like it too.

The Vibraprobe is the most bank for your buck! Also, all other makes use variable mechanical switches to turn them on and ground balance them when the ambient temperature or battery voltage changes. All those switches eventually wear out. Not so with the Vibraprobe. Just turn it upside down, which turns it on and hunt. If it isn't used for one minute (I timed it ) it shuts itself off.

A bonus if you water hunt. Mine saves alot of time recovering targets while wade-hunting... the quicker you get those targets up the more you find and as we all know, 'tectoring is a "numbers" game!
This probe is tough-as-nails too.

I agree with everything said about the VibraProbe 560. I own one and still use it occasionally. But the UniProbes made by DetectorPro take electronic probes to the next level. Their two probe models easily detect twice the distance of the VibraProbe. They also get much better battery life before losing detection depth. There are two downsides. First is the price and second is that the units are not totally waterproof (although the probe part can be submersed). Check them out at www.detectorpro.com.

The Uniprobe is a great probe! However, it is also expensive, and you may not want to spend that much on a probe. The probe comes with headphones, or you can get the pocket probe for $50 less without the headphones. You can't go wrong with this probe, it is excellent.
