Info on buying a used SE pro

Tip #1: Buy from one of our MANY forum sponsoring dealers...as they are all trusted and respected.

Tip #2: Consider buying from our forum classifieds once you have reached the required 30 posts....BUT only purchase from a seller who has a TON of respect from other long time members here.

Tip #3: Buy a nice digging tool...because you will need it for the SE PRO.

Tip #4: IF you purchase one....patience is one of the main ingredients needed to learn it.

Tip #5: Buy some aspirin or Ibuprofen...etc...because you will need it as a pain reliever once you throw your shoulder out after wrapping the SE around the nearest tree IF you are not willing to utilize step #4.:bouncy:

Thank you! All those tips make me want to accept the challenge even more so!
How deep does the SE go on average?!

"How deep" is a very, very tough question, with a TON of variables -- i.e. what type of soil (bad/mineralized soil can GREATLY limit depth), how wet or dry the soil is (metal targets can be seen deeper in moist soil than dry soil, in general), how much trash/iron junk is around (trash -- especially iron, can GREATLY limit depth to which you can detect a nearby "good" target), how much EMI (electromagnetic interference can GREATLY limit depth), how well you know your machine and what it's telling you (this may be one of the BIGGEST issues -- as "deep" hunting is MUCH different than "shallow" hunting), what size of coil you are using (bigger coils get better depth in general), what size the metal target is (larger targets can be seen deeper in the ground than small ones), how the target is oriented in the ground (a coin "on edge" will usually not be detected as deep as one laying flat/parallel to the surface of the ground), how long has the target been in the ground (a long-buried target can generally be detected deeper than a recently buried one), etc. etc.

If you have been detecting for very long, you know all of this already; I just wanted to mention it in case you are new at this. :)

Having said that, in ideal conditions, an SE Pro/11" Pro coil should be able to hit a dime-sized target (assuming no nearby iron trash items) to a maximum depth of roughly 10-11 inches. Quarters can be hit 12" deep, maybe a bit more.

Hope that helps,

Steve

Chuck Marcum treated me very well. He is a sponsoring dealer here ..... Indian Nations Detectors.

Good luck !!

How deep.
I was on one of our surf beaches last week about a half a mile out on dry sand, a great signal so I dug it about 2ft down I tried with my Vibra probe still nothing so that was about two and a half feet down and still nowhere near the item, so I suspect it was a large aluminium rail.
