Does the discrimination work well enough to help you miss most of the iron? I know that all detectors can false on iron. And, I know that VLF's discriminate better than PI. I hope to get a detector to use on the beach and in shallow water. I plan on digging all conductive targets anyway so as long as it gets me past the iron I don't care too much about the other discrimination. I'm trying to decide if this is the detector for me. I'm trying to decide between this, the Excaliber, and other PIs.

Iron is the main concern, but if you have other insights on the machine I would like to hear your comments.

TIA

Alton

Copper and Silver give a low-high sound and iron, gold, aluminum, clad & iron give a high-low sound. It does have an iron check using reverse discrimination. This machine has to be swung very slow. It is probably one of the deepest machines out there. It has to be tuned properly for best results, and does not do well in areas with a lot of junk.
