infinium or sea hunter mk2..........

Ok, so I like both of these detectors and the price diffence is not (too) much of a concern. The question is, am I paying more(infinium) for extra stuff I don't really need or are they for 2 really different purposes, or is the infinium just that much better for an all around unit. I don't dive all that much but would like to be able to if the urge hits. I will probably do the same as I have always done, poke around old house/farm/park/school sites, go to the beach, and would like to be able to occaisionally dive with the unit.

What say y'all............martin

My preference is the Infinium, I would email Garrett and ask for an instructional DVD on both units as I did. It shows both and could be beneficial to your purchase. Hope this helps. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

I think either one would be a poor choice for, "old house/farm/park/school sites". Don't count on the discrimination on either to work on iron. You will have plenty of it on any of the sights you mentioned. Either of these will work in a diving or surf application. The Mark II is certainly easier to operate. I have owned 3 Mark IIs.
