Infinium LS

I currently use a Minelab Quattro, but am nervous about using it in the surf..I have a fear of ruining a $1000 machine by dropping it while I dig a target..Anyone using the Infiniun LS??? how is it in saltwater condition???

I am on the verge of buying an Infinium LS.

Is there something that I should know about it. I plan on hunting the beaches of SE Florida.

TIA
Alton

It can't tune out the salt water. Garttet say it work fine in The Pacific, but not in The Gulf or Atantic. They are working on the problem.

I'm trying to decide on my first PI detector and had just about decided on the Infinium.

I guess I'll have to back up and punt.

It does seem like a strange problem though.

Thanks,
Alton

Alton, try to stay with a known quantity. Contact other hunters in your area and find out what they are running. See if there is a club in your area and go to a meeting. Other hunters are generally willing to help a fellow pirate out. Hey, they may not tell you where to find the loot, but perhaps you could get wise counsel on what works best where you are. There may be other hunters on the Water Hunting Forum, in your area, that you could ask.

Go to GoldDredger.com Discussion Forums Matt's Treasure Hunting Page 2 The Infinium thread from Sept 06 to May 06. A very pointed discussion about the Infinium.

Yes, there is a club in our area. SMARTS treasure club. I was actually president of it for 3 years. But we are in East Tennessee and most everyone either relic or coin hunts. There are 2 Excals in our club. 3 if you count one guy who can't get his to work for him.

None of them use PI units.

We did have our spring hunt today and that was fun. I think I will keep researching the PI units for awhile longer. It will be awhile before I can get back to Florida anyway.

Thanks

THe Infinium is designed to hunt to a depth of 200 feet. I should think it would do quite well in saltwater. :)

I would contact Mary Penson at Garrett and make sure on that statement. There are guys on the forums that hunt the Atlantic coast with the Infinium. maryp@garrett.com

I just talked to Garrett today about the concerns that the Infinium LS does not handle the Atlantic saltwater well. They have not had known problems hunting in the Atlantic. Many customers hunt there and do very well with it.

I was glad to hear that as I have been agonizing over the decision to get one or not.

They did point out that this was not a beginner machine and learning to use it and adjust it well is paramount to having any success with it.

I thought I would pass this along to this thread because it is where I became concerned.
