I just have to say that the more you use the Infinium LS the more you will like it. If anyone out there is getting discouraged with their unit i would say read all you can on the net and practice as much as you can and soon you will start to love this machine.
One the beach in California i have been using mine for the past two weeks, no rings yet but everything else from token to ear rings and lots of coins. In the wet sand and salt water i set the discrimination at 2 or 3 and this stops the false signals at the end of the swing. The depth is unbelievable, most items at around 12" but pulled a quarter at 20" it sounded out with a faint signal.
After several hours you can identify the different sounds. In the beginning the sounds all seem to sound the same but after a while of practice you will be able to tell some differences.
Moral of the story DON"E UP, it will come around and you will be wanting to hit new places and find treasure
