Infinium for Relic Hunting?

Canewrap

Does anyone use the Garrett Infinium for relic hunting? With its Tone ID, seems like it would be a good machine to hunt woods, creek beds, edge of ponds and the like. When I did a search on old messages all everybody seemed to talk about was its use at the beach. Can anybody help me out with this?

My first hunt with the Infinium went well-er then expected. Four of us headed out of town to some salt water beaches recently. I brought along my GTI 2500 & Infinium. Most of my saltwater hunts were done with the Infinium. The iron check works real well, with about a 90% success rate for ID'ing iron. All you have to do, is if you get a signal "low-high" is turn the discrimination knob up clockwise as far as it will go and listen to the tone. If the signal remains strong or slightly less strong, it is iron. If it disappears completely or only a slight signal, it's not iron. In my case, it was a pull tab, a brass object or a less projectile. Now I didn't get any gold on this hunt, neither did any of us and we all are very experienced with our machines. However, I hunted a spot which I hoped would give up a relic or two, and out came a couple of old (snider?) bullets from the turn of the century. I also got this old toy cannon, which unfortunately is in poor condition and I am unable to date it. the Infinium was a nice machine to use, and with the electronics mounted underneath my elbow, allowed for many hours of comfortable swinging.

So....the Infinium will finds coins easily, especially if you just dig the low-high signals, which should get you the silver and copper coins. I wouldn't recommend using it in an area filled with trash, as it sounds off strongly on every signal. However, it would make a great machine for hunting old hunted out areas for relics, old coins and gold. in saltwater, I was pulling out iron targets at 8-9 inches and even deeper with the 8" mono coil. I have yet to try out the 10" x 14" DD coil, which should give even more depth in the environment. I am looking forward to using it this summer in some of my favorite hunting spots to get an edge over my previous machine. It's not a do-all machine, but sure shines in selected environments.

... The folks who understand it have a real tough unstrument.

Yeah I field tested it for Garrett back when and have hardly used it since. Going to have to drag it out and dust the cobwebs off it.
