Infinium, concerning Threshold

Dancer

Well-known member
Because of noise at the beach I haven't used Threshold as much. Doing a little reading up found something interesting. Now old hats know this but I gave it a little test out in the Gulf. So setting the Threshold hunted along till I came to a barely auditable signal breaking threshold. So before scooping I cut the Threshold off. Nothing, not a whimper. Back on, feint contact again. Imagine that.
Now right now where I'm hunting, this will cause the machine to run a little more erratic, but you got to play with it some. Couldn't tell you how much depth you gain, but simple test proves it out. Hope this helps someone, or causes another opinion.

Well of course you have/ should ground balance. But you do have the option to listen to threshold or not. Some just don't want to listen to it. But it certainly makes a difference in depth. There are machines with no threshold hum at all offered. So than I dunno.

You actually gain a lot of depth. I always run mine around 5 or 6.

This is something that after a year of using the L/S , didn't fully appreciate. Like anything else, there's always room to learn.

I don't have the Infinium, but on my 2500 I sometimes find targets by the threshold dropping out. I've never paid attention as to what kind of targets they are, will have to do that this year. When it drops out I switch to all metal and come up with a target.

You just opened up a whole new layer of hunting space. You can now go back over your previous sites and hunt them again.
