infinium coils?

I just bought an infinium. I am wondering if anyone has used coiltech or other after market coil. It would take some modification with plugs or such but I am wondering if they would work. I have heard that the Blitz coils are really hot and would love to try one on the Infinuum. Or make my own coils.

View of two coils required for Infinium LS, also needed is a circuit board and plug.

Ivanll, Have you made your own coils for the Infinium? I wonder if there is a schematic for the circuit board anywhere?

From what I gather just hooking up a Coiltek or other aftermarket coil will not work and may damage your detector. The Infinium is doing something different with coils that you would need to duplicate. Garrett considers the information to do so proprietary information.

I've got 5 genuine Garrett coils for my Infinium LS they cover all my needs with this detector and therefore have not had the inclination to make my own.
Got everything from a dissected coil inc. the circuit, it would not be much of a puzzle to solve.
Saw an Infinium LS test with an 18x14" coil on YouTube.
A few styles of coils were said to be made in Western Australia..........only heard of them, never sighted one............guess if they had been any good they would still be in production.

Hi, I am new to MD and new to the site. I recently purchased an infinium and an AT Pro for my wife and I to begin a new hobby. I am interested in learning from you folks if you have made modifications to your infinium that would improve performance. This could come in the form of replacement wands, wiring, software, ??? You name it, I am interested in looking at what handy things you folks are doing with your machines. I am just wanting to shorten the 'learning curve' if you know what I mean. I am interested as well in after market coils that are waterproof and quite small, like the neighborhood of 3 x 5 or so. I plan on getting the Grey Ghost waterproof headphones and the in-line volume adjustment. Any more suggestions??

Thanks so much!!! This site has already been a great help.

We are looking forward to when the ground will thaw and the lakes/rivers are free from their ice. Can hardly wait to get out, its' still quite cold here in the U.P.

I rarely do any detector mods. I did chest mount a GMT once White's GMT Chestmount Modification I thought it would be fun to cram and Infinium into a White's Classic box and set it up with a 10" x 5" DD just to show garret how I think it should really be built. Then years later White's made the TDI SL, basically saving me the work.

I always just used the Infinium as is but I did hip mount it a lot. I made my own headphone adapter for it back before you could just buy one. That is my main suggesting - get the dry land headphone adpater so you can use any headphones instead of the cheapies Garrett ships with the Infinium. I use Gray Ghosts.
