Infinium coil question

I have the infinium with both 10 x14 coils, I hunt salt water beaches in the northeast. Is it true that the mono coil would be better at detecting smaller targets like small rings and chains? FRom my experience with the detector so far I find the mono coil to be much more stable making me feel more confident with it.Any info would be great. thanks Moe

Hi Moe,
The 14" mono is my favorite coil for the Infinium. The mono is only marginally more sensititive to small items, and typically only if near the actual edge of the coil.
So if you have a tiny target you get a weak signal as one edge passes over the item and a second signal as the other edge passes the item. This can be confusing if you have lots of small surface trash.
I mainly like the mono as it has a depth edge in most situations, but the penalty is the depth is in a more traditional cone shaped area under the coil with best depth dead center. The stock DD coil gets better coverage over a wider area but gives up that little extra punch in the middle. So it requires more overlapping with the mono coil to get that extra depth and the coverage.

HI Steve, thanks for the info. I have been using the mono coil and so far it seems to me to be more stable. I think it is going to be the coil of choice for me also. thanks again Moe.
