Infinium and Sea Hunter 2 Question

I have an Infinium and use it in the saltwater surf at times, but mainly use it for freshwater and prospecting. I notice it falses occasionally in the surf. I am thinking of getting a Sea Hunter 2 as long as it doesn't false just for the surf. Does anyone have a Sea Hunter they use in the surf that could tell me ? Are the depths comparable also ?

Thanks, Darryl

I use a sea hunter 2 the depth is great over a foot, and no falsing as long as you dont hit the coil, I dug a bobby pin and it took 3 scoops I think youll like it

In my experience, the MKll is deeper than the LS. The MKll is also much more stable in the surf than the LS. However, there is no way to ID iron with the MKll, so with it, you will be digging some deep iron junk.:detecting: Oh yeah, and no way to ground balance the MKll, but that hasn't caused me any problems.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Hi,

Try and using your discrimination control to eliminate saltwater detection but only up to #3 setting no higher. Saltwater has a conductivity the same as iron and foil. Also using a mono coil seems to help the 8" mono coil is the best size to use in the surf.

Good Luck

Since you have the Infinium and use it currently like I want to use a detector, how well does it do prospecting out of water versus in the surf. I want a detector that does both well as well as being able to dive with it.

Thanks.

I own an Infinium and a sea hunter. The sea hunter will give a false signal on waves in shallow water but I like it because it go's deeper than my Infinium,I use mono coils In the salt water. I have all the coils for the Infinium and the mono coils work best.

I have a sea hunter mach 11 and it will false with the salt water waves going over the coil.

Try hunting in discreet trash elimination mode at zero discrimination.:detecting: That's what I do and it's alot more stable that way and plenty deep. I switch to standard trash elimination to pinpoint when I get a target.:wiggle: Happy Hunting!:)

I've seen some people prospecting with the Sea Hunter MKll.:garrett::detecting: I imagine it would go awfully deep on larger nuggets. I've never used mine for prospecting as I prefer dedicated nugget machine with ground balance capabilities like Scorpion or Infinium LS for that. Happy Hunting!:)
