Hi Fellow Infinium Hunters!!,
I've been ground balancing in the water and getting mixed results. A friend and fellow LS user told me he ground balances on the wet sand before entering the water with good results.
Could how the LS is ground balanced affect depth? My friend is finding many more finds at depth (Chest deep) than I find in shallow water(Hip deep). Yesterday I spent all of an hour with no repeatable signals and a very stable threshold tone with weak falsing signal tones off and on. The tones were hi/lo and not repeatable. The only solid, repeatable hi/lo tone I got during that time was a class ring, 10K at about 8" (in 4" of sand with a stony sub layer). The tide was low )Hip deep) and the water very calm.
I was able to recover a brass fishing swivel, a lead sinker (small), 2/3 of a penny, and another small lead weight, non were at more than 5-8". I'm listening for those small repeatable signals and deep recoveries I know I should be getting and they weren't there.
Too, my friend tells me he has a much more stable signal when he parallels the beach even when he is at chest deep 75-100' off dry land.
Don't misunderstand me friends, I'm grateful for any find especially gold, but I know I should be getting better results.
I'll keep you posted.
GL&HH Friends,
