Hunting down a sanded in , silent surf line. You know it's bad when you got to check your coil against the scoop, to see if its working.
Well spotted a cut being developed up ahead. Running 25 yards from about a foot to 3feet sloping black to a foot. Jumped right upere.
Didn't take long, lo-hi signals. Quarter's & dimes. Working down hit 6 foot area ,nickels. Now this wasn't a walk in the park. Had to fight rising surf. Really slapping at the 3ft stretch. Got to have your game together trying to beat surf while locating target. Finally common sense won out. Buddy and I had to bail, to fight another day. Totals don't seem like much, but for a sanded in beach was a lot of action.

3 Quarters. 5Dimes. 6 Nickels 1 Penny. Buddy George coming in late hunting a BCID. Snagged a toe ring and change before getting wiped out by a wave. Got to tell ya, made a couple guys in their 60's feel like kids again.

Yea, those situations can really knock the sense out of you. You all of a sudden feel invincible ready to take on the world.
I understand that it is even better when you are in your 70's. I'll tell you in a couple of years...can't wait for that kind of a feeling, especially when you are not finding some of Davy Jones' loose golden treasures.

May the ring of gold be in your ears and its glitter in your scoop!

Still working the Garrett, now well into the 80s. (That's me, not the Garrett.)

I could give a few good detecting tips for young 60s whipper-snappers ... but I forgot what I was going to say. Cheers.

Thanks for posting - I plan on taking my Sea Hunter II out to one of our beaches this coming summer again, forgot how the surf can give up coins - fishing tackle - zippo lighters etc. been dirt fishing on dry land to much. I like the surf line when it is flat & smooth & yes there will be times I think maybe the batteries had died. Age is catching up with me also - wish you many more great finds.
