Hi-

To begjn- We are completely inexperienced metal detectorists.

We are using a Garret AT Pro. We are specifically looking for gold, silver, and jewelry buried by a deceased elderly relative, in PVC tubes, at depths of about 1’.

What is the best setting to find these items? We’re getting a ton of false readings.

TIA- Sarah

If I was doing it I would use PRO-ZERO and dig everything that reads 50 and above to start with. If you cannot find it that way, start digging lower number targets.

Well said......And, if there is no iron with these treasures, hunt with the iron audio turned on and set to 36. Dig all the signals without the iron "grunt" audio.

Good luck. It sounds very exciting. :beers:

Hi guys-

One thing we keep noticing: I’ll get spikes at 85-99, and it will be a steel bolt and/or foil or a tin can. Couple that with the fact the sensor is all over the place- it will go from 0-70 constantly. I’m in New England, and there’s a lot of granite.
