Found two indians(1 not in pic) 1871 and this 1864.The 1871 is soaking if anyone has ideas on how to get crust off of it would be appreciated, and this merc which is a 1942 but underneath the 2 looks like a 1 any info on this dime?Mis mint maybe. Thanks charlie
You need to get a real good close up of your date on the Merc. and you might consider handling it carefully Charlie. My Book shows that a 1942/41 is worth some money. Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on the finds.

Wow hope it is. Would be an epic find for sure. See if you can get a better close up. Would be cool to see. Nice finds! Definitely be careful with it. Its worth a lot if it is.

Definitely need a better picture in order to tell if you have the 42 over 1 variety...........does it have the "D" mintmark, as there was also a 42 over 1 variety from the Denver mint. Either variety is quite rare and worth some major bucks depending on condition. HH - Hawkeye Jim.
You were able to dig a nice rare Merc... There are 2 types... 2 over a one without a mint mark is worth more than the 1942 (2 over 1 with a D mint Mk) with out a D up to 14,000 and up in MS condition. However, the lowest going price starts for a 1942 2 over a 1 in VF condition is roughly 900.00 to 1,200 dollars and I know you'll take that... WTG.

PS I have nearly 80 1941 and 42's and none are of this rare error, so your living proof that they do exist. I only know of one other hunter to have dug one of these beauties...
