I went out this morning although it was a bit cold, about 37 F and a steady 15-20 mph wind. I had on my heavier gloves today, but I only lasted one hour. I hit an Indian head cent right off the bat, so that gave me some incentive to stick it out for a while. Ended up finding two Indians, 1902 and 1908 (no mintmark). I probably only dug about ten targets in all, also got a 1941 Jefferson, and a clad dime. The clad dime was in the same hole as one of the Indians, but shallower. Right toward the end I got a deep silver signal, which hit consistently in one direction, but broken up when I turned 90 degrees. The depth was showing about ten inches, so definitely worth digging. Down about 8-9 inches was the neat silver horseshoe pin, marked "Stieff" and "sterling". The pin is gone. Stieff is a well known Baltimore silversmith company. From the style of the pin, I would guess it's from the early 1900s.
Spring is a little late here, no warm-up in the near future. Good luck to everyone.
