Indian Head Spree!

Last weekend we hunted a field with little success. My buddy pulled one IH and two buttons. I dug trash. We headed up to the owners house and started talking. Pretty soon the brother of the owners wife came by and offered his yard to detect. He said it had been hunted before but that we were welcome to try. In his small front yard I found these ten nice IH! My buddy found two IH (one nice fatty), and his first V-nickel. The high point was when he came over to me and asked, "What the heck if this?" I was shocked to see he had found a silver three cent piece! It is holed and has some dents but what a find! We both went home very happy. As you can see the IHs cleaned up real nice.

Best of luck to all and HH - BF

How did you clean those up so nicely?

I microwaved some hydrogen peroxide until boiling, drop in the IHs, wait for a few hours and lightly brush with a soft tooth brush. These needed a couple treatments since the dirt was very hard. Then I rinse them in water and when very dry give them a couple light coats of olive oil.

Thanks. I've tried the peroxide. Maybe I'm just not giving it enough time.

They sure turned out nice too. Congrats to your buddy with the Silver 3-Cent Piece and the Fatty Indian Head. If I chose a time out that didn't reward me with any Silver and I would be happy with my finds, this would be the time that I would love to have. Hope your finds keep coming for you and Good Luck and HH.:detecting:
