went out today to an old ballfield ive hunted before numerous times 7hr hunt netted 47 quarters 17dimes 25 pennies 3 nickles 2 silver rosies 1 merc 1 standing liberty quarter 6 wheats.one thing i dont get is 80 percent ofthe quarters hit at 12 45 use to etrac 12 47 12 46.qther than that this machine rocks .deepest wheat wae at least 9 in

OUTSTANDING.................. in your ball field.

I am noticing the same thing seems the quarters can be anywhere between 43-48 mostly in the 45-46 have not found silver yet, the dimes are anywhere between 41-46, pennies depending upon their content anywhere between 36-44 just memorials so far no wheats or indians. What program are you running? and which settings? I am going to an older park this weekend and am hoping for some tips.

coin mode combined tones manual sens 23 i gotta say 7hrs swinging this machine isnt that bad, etrac well we all know of the etrac fatigue.was raining most of the day no prblem with ctx glad i traded for this beast

Most of the silver quarters I have found were in the 46-48 range. It really depends on the soil, if there are nearby targets, and what noise cancel channel you are in. Also auto/manual has some effect.

I totally agree. And one other point I'd like to make again......... the CTX 3030 is NOT another E-TRAC. (Not that there would be anything wrong with that) But the CTX 3030 has unique functionality that makes it worthy of having it's own name. HH Randy

- Anyone else noticing that Minelab may have purposely done this to broaden the target range to make Target ID more accurate??? Seems that they skewed the scale to make clad fall slightly lower than silver so that we can now ID the difference. I like it.

Congrats on the great hunt and thanks for the feedback:thumbup: -Marc

I understand that air scans may not produce accurate fe/co numbers since there is no ground effect. But just comparing my air scans between the E-Trac and the 3030, it seems with my machines the Co numbers with the 3030 are 1 to 2 numbers lower on the Co scale than the 3030. If it would rain here and get moisture in the ground maybe I will find that there is little or no difference in the field. So for now, I am digging a lot of targets just to learn the range that coins, brass, lead, etc. are in with this new machine. The only thing I have found so far that I don't like with the 3030, is the fact I have to get used to a new type of pinpointer. That , however, is minor and I can deal with it.

I went to a club sponsored buried coin hunt up on the Illinois, Iowa border this past week end and there was a dealer there that let me hunt with the new CTX 3030's. One of the things he told me was the CTX 3030 I.D.'d slightly lower then the E-Trac and he demon straighted this to me on several coins, copper, clad, silver and for the most part that is exactly what happened. Oops sorry about that mis-type.
