Incredable pictures of finds. How it's done?

I know this doesn't fit the rules of this forum but I'm hoping the Admins will agree this is the most obvious place to post. I've seen some incredible close up pictures of coins here and am curious what and how people make this happen. I'm assuming it all in the pixel quality of the cameras but am not really sure.

The hardest part is finding an incredible find to take a pic of!!:rofl: Once you do, then, you can take a pic with any old thing, cellphone, whatever, save it to a file, adjust size to fit the Findmall parameters, and post away!
Somebody will be along shortly to give you better feedback than this!

If you are asking how to post pics I would recommend you go to shrinkpics.com. and watch the video a few times..thats how I learned.. I still struggle with posting pics sometimes... good luck.

The problem arises when we have to take close-ups...
Blurry images is all I get out of my cellphone and digital camera...
I have to take a picture from more than 30 cm and then do some trimming, but it ain't what I want.
:ranting::shrug:

Yeap Fabio thats where I'm going with my question. guess I should have been a little more precise. Mud your exactly right bout first finding a great find LOL. I'm techy enough to get the pics posted but like Fab cant get those crisp clear close ups.

you would need a macro feature on your camera to get a nice close up. I have one on my 5mp camera. The pictures come out around 2.3MB in size. I then shrink them down to around 30-40% of the original size with Microsoft Paint. Then they around 200-300kb in size - perfect for findmall. There are a lot of different ways to go about resizing this is just how I choose to perform the operation.

It is better to use natural light too. I like to take mine in natural light.

natural light and a good background i think helps, a good focusing camera also helps.. you have to size your avatar picture or findmall won't upload it, but when you post an upload file of a find in your message, findmall software will automatically size it to their format, then when you click on the picture it will automatically expand to your original file. "if you noticed some pics expand and some don't, that is why" hope this helps.

You can take pretty good close up with a cell phone. The trick is to not try to get too close with the phone, but rather take a clear shot 8 inches or so away with good lighting (not the flash), then crop to the level you want.

These two pics are from the same shot, the close up was zoomed in after the pic was taken.
