increased sensitivity

Has anyone else noticed what seems to be noticeable performance increase on land with moist ground? My vlf (NautilusDMCIIB) with six inch coil seemed more sensitive and deeper this summer than the Infinium w/ 8 in coil when the ground was bone dry. Now with some rain it seems like the Infinium is the better performer especially for small items. My ground is mild if that makes any difference. Am I crazy or is this expected with a PI? Thanks for any input on this subject...
