According to Spaceweather. It may hit today or into tomorrow...its a G1 class which is minor..it does have an effect on electrical stuff, magnetic fields, etc. and also confuses birds navigation...so lets see if any of you that will be hunting today or tomorrow experience any strange operation with your rigs..? Anymore than normal that is.... One would think the EMI would make for a chattery mess in normally quiet areas you have hunted before with no problem? If a guy is running hot settings?

I wonder if CME's causes all detectors being built/adjusted today to either be 'hotter' or 'cooler'? Or if those techs should just take the day off, head down to the tavern, and let it pass?:beers:

Oh man.............we could lose our way today ( :spin:)................ Throw off our inner compass :)stars:)..............make our machines go haywire..and we could get lost in the woods ..........

I'm curious Elton!

Can you imagine if somebody takes a new rig they just bought out today for the first time and its a chattering mess? Imagine the posts here and phone calls to all the techs!

"Its a CME day sir, nothing wrong with your machine...just simmer down and go out some other time, we have no control over the Sun!" In fact, that excuse may come in handy for a lot of things!

"A guy should take notice of the weather, especially if he plans on going outside"

In the scheme of Man's time on this Planet, metal detecting is a relatively new technology/Sport ..what, maybe 40yrs old if that?.

So I am wondering if anybody that has been doing this for a while and follows this Forum that has also paid attention to inbound CME's or other 'Spaceweather' events can shed some quantitative field experience on this?

A fellow would hate to plan a nice hunt, drive a couple hundred miles to attempt a massive hunt, only to have our rigs capabilities minimized by an event such as a CME or something similar that may adversely affect our gears performance?

Heck, I was all ready to pull out of here at 3am to drive 200 miles to do just this until I checked Spaceweather...A guy only gets a few 'perfect' hunting days in a year, when all conditions are just right...has anybody noticed and paid attention to how solar flares or CME's have on our rigs?? Just trying to optimize my short time here...Helps a fellow strategize, if I cant hunt, I can get some other things done is all..:sadwalk:.

Mud.....a tin foil hat is all you need and something similar to shield your machine!!!!
P.s. this isn't a pic of me, it's a stock photo.....I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a tin foil hat lol!!!

Goldie! You old Pirate! :clapping::rofl: I was fabbing up such an outfit to deal with this!!

I'm a 'tinny' from way back! Dang .gov always reading my mind and knowing my every move! as if the intergallactic 'Grays' wernt bad enough, the dotgov is always trying to steal my inventions, read my mind, an probe my colon! I always ask if they can tell what I had for breakfast, but they dont seem to care...I guess they just like the view...

I hope some Poindexter tech that knows the CME effects on our rigs comes along and gives us the true skinny on this...those hats get hot and reflectory when the sun comes out...I prefer to hunt 'head naked' so to speak, which can be quite invigorating...

I'd sport that tin foil skypiece if thats what it took....I'm watching the radar, gonna try to sneak in on the backside of a storm front and get 1000 dimes I left at that one place in December when I was sniping Q's.....thats what I'm thinking...set a 'daily dime' record that will never be broken...one thing good about a hat like that, a guy dont have to worry about anybody walking up wanting to make idle chatter!.

Oh, and for you dotgov's reading my mind and wanting your cut of my attempt at a World record 1000 dirt dime day? Y'all can just kiss my @ss! I expensed it out on beer! Call it a 'fuel surcharge'...

LOL..Yea right. Sure it's not you !!.......................

Still got snow on the ground and outright frozen solid ground. But I might just have to wipe the dust off the detector to see if it behaves differently ..

Just came back from a detecting trip.....nothing to report or show except for a few coins and hopefully NOT any mosquito bites because they were out there in droves tonight!!!! I spray Deep Woods all over me when I detect past sunset cuz that's when they come out looking for blood!!!! It was around 86-88F today and it's been a warm evening so the mosquito's were expected!
Elton.....just Google 'Tin Foil Hats' pic's and you'll see a million pics of them! I was tempted to post some more but decided not too!!
Ironsight...........yep, maybe old Nap; would be! lol!
Goodnight all:goodnight:

Just messing with you a little Goldstrike . We all know your hat is gold colored ..........Not the silver one shown ..

EMI CME etc bothers PI's to some extent but, most are still fully usable.
I can usually adjust the frequency control to clean it up.
