In the right place at the right time

I went back to my 2nd choice beach to see what else the high surf had exposed. I was busy. The watch is not marked but I suspect it is 14Kt. The face fell apart and is in pieces in the foreground. I suspect that part was gold-plated steel. The rest of it is definitely solid. Weighs in at 19.7 grams but that includes the watch (but not the cover). The necklace is marked 14Kt Italy but it seems awfully red for gold. I am suspicious. The religious medallion is silver but not marked and the ring is 925. 19 quarters and various others made it a day to remember and a reason to return.

PS: Necklace is definitely a fake. Copper bathed in gold. Very little gold left anywhere on it.

What a great day man! Excal and Gulf Hunter on the maiden voyage at sea 4 am. WE SHALL SEE! I still love my Mark II, but am hoping for ferrous masking.

Steve... Nice finds first of all... Old trick I use on suspicious gold, drop the piece in clorox and if it turns black in a few seconds you know you have junk :)

It definitely was in the water a LONG time. It is the first gold that I have found that was so heavily encrusted. I suspect that the electrolitic charge of the gold and the metal of the clockworks promoted the encrustation.
