In my own backyard...

Okay I'm new to metal detecting and need a little help here. I think it is a bullet, definitely lead, but my friend thinks it's the tip to an arrow.
It is about 3/4" in length and just under 1/2" width, weight is about 0.3oz on my postal scale :)
Also how many years do you think it has on it? Sorry about the large pictures.

Well I am sure you're right, I'm new to md and mainly only go for coins. Thanks for your help.

P.S. Sorry for the big pics, could not get them any smaller with my program.
 
I'll confirm that Olde Tymer is correct. The many tiny straight lines you see INSIDE the bullet's grooves are called "reeding" - like on the edge of a US dime. It means the bullet is absolutely positively post-civil-war era. In this particular case, from the 1880s and later.
