in-line probe for C$

Seems to me that we'll never see a Sun Ray in-line probe for the C$ . They made one for the Excel which came out after the C$ . Maybe they think the dollars aren't there for the C$ !?!

from what I've seen with Ralph's comments, the C$ probe should be "on deck". Hopefully that's the real deal and not just wishful thinking. :)

if this is the case, then I would expect the inline probe for the Ace series might have been a mistake also. I haven't seen to many people using them.

I have listened to two steppin-side steppin Ralph Tell us the C$ probe will be out in the spring more than once. Its the same ole song and dance.....So do yourselves a favor and Buy a detector pro uniprobe ....Either the pocket probe or headphone model.....They are better than the sunray probes.....They work with all detectors. Enough said !!

Basically they made a probe for the ID-Excel first with the thought that it was the newer, "hotter" selling Fisher at the time. But since very few Excel probes have sold that makes Sun ray push Fisher items aside including a 5.5" coil that I really wanted to see......
Seems to me now more folks asked for a 5" coil than a probe, & a small coil would have sold far better, but the small coil is alot harder to build I guess.....
I wish there was some kind of way folks could give a small deposit, or come up with some type of pre-order so SunRay knows folks will buy something like that proposed 5.5" coil. I'd like one for either the ID-Edge or C$....

Ralph has side stepped all around the C$ probe and small coil for 2 years now.....when are we gonna get a straight honest answer. Its the same thing over and over.

if your losing $$ on Fisher items then you set aside that R&D & try Garrett.......
if Garrett stuff don't sell maybe they go back to finishing a Fisher small coil? That's what I hope happens anyway.....

We began some initial R&D on a possible C$ probe and coil in the fall of 2004 and Bill Ladd will confirm this as we were using his CS for the R&D. He had to have it back for his UK hunt so we sent it back without having done much more than take some initial measurements. Keep in mind that we do R&D on more than one project at a time and I have stated this before. We also have to keep producing products that we already have on the market. We don't make any money while doing just R&D! We have to keep our dealers supplied with product that is already on the market. We were also working on the FE-1 for the ID Excel at the time and it came out first in 2005. The C$ project has been an on and off thing for almost a year and a half.

I haven't side stepped, two stepped or anything of the kind as you accuse me of doing! When I would get a call or an e-mail concerning the project I would respond with what I thought was as accurate an answer as I could give based on what I knew on that particular day. I am not in charge of R&D on coils and probes and I cannot dictate what does or does not get finished soley on my wishes. All decisions made on projects and what gets worked on and what becomes more important at any particular time is based on decisions made by Mark, our engineer, and myself based on a lot of different factors, some of which are what is going on in the metal detector market and on possible sales projections at that particular time. We also hit snags in R&D which I might add has happend on the C$ project.

I get requests all the time from people wondering if I can give them any information or a "ball park" projection on a release date of a certain product they would like to see us make or one they have heard we are working on. I try to give them the best guess I can and end up getting myself in trouble most of the time as I'm almost for sure going to be way off but they want to know "something". Maybe we should take the position of most other companies and not respond to e-mails with those kinds of requests and not give any projections on anything until a new product is tested and in production. It looks like that is the best policy.

Sorry this was so long but I have been seeing this side step, two step thing and felt I should respond.

New Sun Ray products will be announced when we are done testing them and we have notified our dealers and have them ready for production. Thank you.

You have answered the question many times....I dont care how you slice it.....and guess what its the same answer every time. Yet we still dont have a small coil or probe for The C$, and thats the bottom line....Now I have brought this up ....I have talked to several guys on here and they see the same pattern and result.....You have guys that are thinking of selling there C$ for the reason of no small coil or probe....Maybe if any have a backbone they will come forward and speak there mind.....It isnt totally you fault we dont have a small coil.....We can thank Fisher for this. Makes you think twice about buying anything with The Name Fisher on it. Enough said !

mainly because the vibraprobe will cause the C$ to have a fit if the coil is within 3 feet or so of the hole, same thing thing with the GTi so that's why I bought an inline probe for the GTi. Now as far as the small coil goes, don't need one, won't use one, I don't hunt areas that I would use one enought to warrant spending the cash on one.

Now, I have spoken to Ralph many times about the C$ probe, he's been as honest with me as he can be I expect without letting any cats out of the bag. Now, when I saw a probe release for the Ace detectors, that's when I came to the realization that there probably won't be a C$ probe. If its economics then I can't see the Ace probes generating a lot of money, if I'm wrong, which I hope I am, but I myself wouldn't consider buying a probe that cost as much or almost as much as the detector I'm putting it.

Will no C$ probe make me want to sell my Coinstrike, NO, I had thought about trading it, but I did that once and bought another 6 months later because I missed it.

I figure it's not Ralph's fault that theres no inline probe for C$, I just figure it's because there might be a problem creating a probe that will work on the C$.

I'm sure Ralph is like everyone else that depends on sales or Business to keep going, I know if i don't get enough of my business to pay the bills , the door closes, ya gotta do what you gotta do, them bills gotta be paid,no matter how much you enjoy or like what your'e doing, and i'm borderline right now:detecting:

You are right about spending almost as much on a probe as the detector costs. However, I bought one because I have converted my Ace250 to my probe. I just disconnect the Ace control box from the rod, and only connect the probe to the Ace. I use it as my probe for all my other detectors. Much better than any after-market probe, including those that cost almost as much as this combination. What can be better than getting 3 inches on your target with ID?

Just another alternative to having a probe for each manufacturer's product.

I'm also guessing that there are technical issues with a smaller coil or probe for the C$, or, knowing Ralph, he would have already produced one.
