My trusty Explorer XS, the 1800's coin magnet had a nose for gold last week. I swear that machine is a devining rod or something, park car at random spot on 1.5 mile long beach. Walk straight out to the waters edge, turn left and detect 30 feet then whamo 1.09 carat diamond ring. The "We buy gold and diamonds" shop owner tested the stone with an electronic tester, he said it was real. Value? He said he'd pay $2,500 to $3,000. Retail $4,000 to $5,000.
