Improvements to the GTI2500

Mick in Dubbo

New member
Hi tigermoth.
I was talking to the Australian master dealer for Garrett (Phil) today.I ordered the Ace 250 from him.In our conversation, we talked about the GTI2500.He advised me that with input from himself, that the 2500 now has a new chip in it to handle the mineralisation of the gold fields without getting overloaded, which means that you should now be able to use it as a nugget hunter. This improvement came into effect as of 1 August this year.He hasn't publicised this fact as yet because he hasn't got the chips from Garrett yet to modify his stock as yet (the reason I'm sending this info to you via private message rather than in the open forum).
Just some food for thought.
All the best,
Mick Evans.:ausflag:

No. I think I'll go and crawl under a rock and get a brain transplant. This was sent from private messages.I rung Phil to apologise. He took it fairly well, but he has got good reason to be plenty mad at me.

Hi Mick and everyone else out there.
First of all, Mick, I'm not mad at you for mentioning this latest upgrade.
It was a bit surpised that you had done so, but no damage done.
I was going to post the information on my website this week, but due to this, it was immediately done and also on our forum.
Bi Uncle Willy (Bill), to answer you question, all Garrett GTI 2500's manufactured from the 1st August 2006, will now have this new upgrade included. This is also for the GTI 1500 and the GTP 1350.
This will be the same for the US and as I understand, all units sold throughout the world.
I have been discussing this problem we have over here with our high mineralised soils with the Engineer for quite awhile.
About 3 months ago, they finally sent me the upgrade to see if it would work as I said it would. The test results were much better than I had hoped for.
With some of the highly mineralised ground over here in Australia, we couldn't put the coil any closer than approximately 4" before the unit would go into overload. This made these areas unworkable.
With the latest upgrade, I could place the 9.5" coil directly onto the soil and it wouldn't go into overload. It didn't null the coil and I could pass a target beneath the coil and soil, and still get a detection.
Using a Double D coil with these machines will now make them very much some of the best units available. Couple this with some of their features not available on other units, what more could you want.
I hope this has helped explain these upgrades and clear up any queries.
All the best from Down Under,
Phil

wow! i would like that "chip" on my 1350, would it be possible to send mine back to Garrett and have them upgrade my unit?

BTW Phil, can I get your website address?

Thanks!!!

Sounds like a winner to me. Ought to boost sales a bit. They should work good up here in Oregon's volcanic soil. Wonder what Garrett might charge to upgrade older 2500's? Thanks bud.
