Impact Updates

I am not speaking for anyone other than myself when I say. I would be happy to pay for improvements / enhancements that could be down loaded. It would be worth every cent rather than buying a new detector every time there was something new. I feel there is a cost to improve a detector and the end user should be happy to cover that cost. R & D is not cheap comes with a price tag. Just me thinking out loud. Also thanks for all the hard work and most of all thanks for listening." The customer in why" that was a saying we had at Pepsi and it is the truth not just a saying. Whit out the customer we would be out of business.

software (firmware) updates should always be free.....keep in mind the savings to the manufacturer if all units need to be returned to the factory for updating.
Think White's MX fiasco!

this is a no-brainer and tremendously benefits both the users and mfg'ers.....

in fact, I don't understand why the impact can't be shipped right now if the only thing stopping it are the last handful of SW problems.
by definition later on-line updates will fix any issues!

Kudos to Nokta/Makro!

On the one hand, you're right. Nokta could probably ship immediately and ask users to update the software later.

But on the other hand, that would cause a couple of problems:

1. Reviewers and early buyers would use the software that came with the Impact, and would criticize any problems
with it as it was shipped, especially if updated software takes a while to post. That might harm Nokta's image
and the reputation of the Impact. Imagine the complaints: "Why did Nokta release a product that isn't ready?"

2. Some buyers are not comfortable with computers. They might not be willing (or able) to go online and figure out
how to update their Impact's software. So they would be stuck with whatever software came with the detector.

I agree amberjack. I know I do not want to purchase something that may not have all the "bugs" worked out of it. I would much rather wait until the company has it down to perfection then I can enjoy the product as intended. However, this is just my view. By the way, who's turn is it to row? :drinking:
