IMPACT TEST IN IRON

I decided the only way to know how well the Impact performs in iron was not to ask testers , but to do it myself. I received the Impact yesterday and put the small coil on for testing. This machine can easily pass the test i tried to get testers to perform on a tone basis with ease, ID no, but i really did not expect it would as no machine i have ever owned could. But only a few could even pass on a tonal basis, so i am pleased with the results. I could hear the iron and the good id, even though ID was not correct i would dig knowing i had a non ferrous target mixed with iron.

The most impressive thing was it passed a test bed test, involving a pulltab, dime, big rusty nail all in the same hole, that no machine i have ever owned could, and on top of that, not only with tone but with a CORRECT ID!

I have not hunted with the machine yet as i like to spend time testing and knowing how i want the machine set up before i blindly swing the coil hunting. I plan on hunting an old house that has been pounded by others. I hunted it with the CTX and recovered some wheats, one V nickel , one mercury and ring. But not one single clad coin as others had cleaned the place out of the easy targets long ago. I will post a report on what happens even if i find nothing.

Your report sounds very good so far Trashfinder.------Do keep us informed when you get some swing time in with it.----Looking forward to that report.

Well,
Sounds like you are getting familiar with the unit.

Look forward to seeing more reports from you on the unit.

Little coil,,deeper than some might think too.

Glad to hear you are as happy as we are about the Impact..it really is a top unit for all hunting and can really work in iron and that is where we have had problems in the past. Machines may not be really changing as much as we would like but the impact is a unmasking workaholic...

I'm curious about the "correct ID" you say it gave. It seems you are saying there were 3 items in the hole, so are you saying it gave 3 IDs, one for each item?

Thanks for the report, ive been following what some of the users have shared. Sounds impressive, hopefully see one up close soon.

If you're up for a Hunt, I can drive up there in a couple of weeks. Would like to compare a Deus using the higher kHz (59 kHz) coil with the impact in area's of thick iron, also be an opportunity to meet and hunt with you.

Great report!
Paul
