I am finally getting real real close to being able to order a GTI 1500 (My Dream Mowsheen) I have been thinking about getting the 12.5" image coil at the same time. Any of you 12.5 image users have any input on wheather I should get it now or later, or maybe not at all. Good points, bad etc. I thought I saw a forum post that said something about short on image depth and pinpointing is harder or something to that effect. Any help Gang?
Thanks A Treasure Heap

Perfect your skills with the 1500 as is then get the larger coil if you wish. The 12,5 images just fine and pinpointing is a snap with a modicum of practice. You will learn that centering the target properly with an imaging coil is crucial.

Bill pretty much said it all. The only things i can add is they cover alot of beach quickly which is nice. But they are also alittle heavy when using them, I know mine is on my 2500.

I had my 1500 for two years and with the limited time I am able to detect it took me that long to even consider a 12.5 coil. It was that long before I felt I knew what I was doing with the factory coil. I bought one last summer and love the way it covers large areas however it does add quite a bit of weight to the unit. At least build up your arm with the factory coil before you get the heavier one.

Indeed expect better ground coverage and added weight with limited extra depth. Imaging is not a fixed science and it takes a bit to learn to center the coil for accuracy and of course with a larger coil its harder so do use the stock coil for a while before moving on to an acc. coil. For those with the 2500 try that non metal mode that ID's for superior depth and one does not need a larger coil...

Larry, The 121/2 in. is okay. I have a new gti 1500 and a 10x14 dd coil for sale very reasonable. Thanks, Ron Burton

Kinda what I thought, but the kid in me wanted to have the whole candy store all at once. I shall try to be patient. <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
